Essential Solar Installation & Technical Requirements
Inverter Type Selection: Demand a Pure Sine Wave MPPT Hybrid Inverter (e.g., Felicity, Deye, Growatt, or Must). Reject basic Modified Sine Wave or PWM inverters—they damage sensitive electronics, humming ceiling fans, and compressor motors (fridges/ACs).
Battery Technology: Insist on Lithium Iron Phosphate (〖"LiFePO" 〗_4) batteries over Lead-Acid or Tubular Gel. Though higher upfront, Lithium charges faster, allows 80%–90% Depth of Discharge (DoD), and lasts 7–10+ years compared to Tubular batteries that fail after 2–3 years.
Solar Panel Quality & Mounting: Ensure panels are Tier-1 Monocrystalline N-Type or Mono-PERC (e.g., Jinko, Canadian Solar, LONGi). Panels must be mounted on raised galvanized aluminum racks angled south for maximum sunlight exposure, never laid flat directly on the roof.
Safety & Protection Devices: The technician must include an AC/DC Changeover switch, dedicated DC Circuit Breakers (MCBs) between panels and inverter, an SPD (Surge Protection Device) for lightning spikes, and an isolator switch for the battery bank.
Cable Standards: Solar PV cables must be UV-resistant, double-insulated 4mm² to 6mm² DC solar cables. Standard AC house wiring cables must never be used on panels as they deteriorate in sunlight and risk fire.
